Anyway, back on topic here for a moment, here's a few links I found:

Here's an interesting one (though i haven't have time to read the whole thing yet...)
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/182090-carl-2-long

From the same site. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/183015-nascar-is-facing-many-battles-of-its-own-this-memorial-day It really doesn't have anything we don't already know, but here's a cool snipit:
Quote
NASCAR also has another battle on its hands.  Fans have basically revolted against the governing body regarding the drastic penalties assessed to Carl Long, rendering that part-time Cup team defunct because of the severity of the sanctions.

NASCAR alleges that Long's penalty is just and that the sport needs to send a distinctive message that teams cannot mess with the engines in any way, shape or form.

But fans have rallied around this "little guy" team, alleging that NASCAR is simply being way too severe with the penalties invoked in this situation.

I'm sure there's hundreds and hundreds of articles about this on the internet.

http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_nascar/2009/05/more-bruton-smith-calls-carl-long-penalty-cruel-and-calls-for-nascar-to-reveal-jeremy-mayfields-drug.html

More Bruton Smith, calls Carl Long penalty "cruel" and calls for NASCAR to reveal Jeremy Mayfield's drug

Cool to see we have Bruton on our side. Wouldn't it be nice if he paid the fine?
Go Carl!!!

Mayfield could let Carl run his car at Dover.  That would be an interesting statement on current affairs.

Sorry guys, the links don't appear to be working for me. Anyone else have any luck? If not, I'll remove them or an admin can do it for me if they wish. Just go to Fox Sports and look up their video section...both videos were on the "front page" when I just recently viewed them. Don't know what I'm doing wrong?!?!

Anyway, here's another good little story:

I would rather have a mind opened by wonder instead of one slammed shut by belief.

That ESPN article is a great read.  Carl even mentions the internet world is helping his cause.

Wow! What a great article....but.......

Quote
When Long showed up to compete in the Sprint Showdown, NASCAR surveyed his engine before the race and determined it to be illegal, larger than the maximum 358.000 cubic inch displacement allowed. Long's was 358.17.

Not quite true. It was only deemed illegal after he blew the engine during practice (before qualifying was scheduled...but was eventually rained out) and NA$CAR inspected it as part of their mandatory inspection process of any engine that has expired pre-race.

I would rather have a mind opened by wonder instead of one slammed shut by belief.

Great articles, and Carl phoned into Nascar Now.  If anyone catches a repeat, he comes on pretty early.
