Full Race.

There are a lot of quality control issues causing us failures. The #40 had electrical issues at Iowa during qualifying and practice. NASCAR allowed us to work on it but we had to move the the rear. (Not a big deal). Three laps into the race and it is dead.
What appears to be S&P's to a lot of people are not. Today, we had a Start and Die!

That Toyota is having all kinds of problems. It suffered a bunch of mechanical maladies while Timmy Hill was driving it too.

It has a 7AM appointment on the Dyno Tuesday morning. Carl assures me it will be totally rewired before then. He is rushing home now. (Maybe already there.)

The 13 got destroyed in practice when Carl hit some ballast dropped by the 97. Whoever's to blame for that needs taken out back and beaten with a sock full of pool balls. Video at the link.

Man, looks like the car could be repaired (not for this weekend of course).

I just read what was posted on Jayski that the Crew Chief from the #97 was helping Carl to prep the backup.

Quote from: Jayski
Carl Long hits metal from #97 car during practice: Crew chief John Monsam could not do enough after tungsten fell off his car and struck #13-Carl Long's car causing Long to wreck Friday at Dover International Speedway - the second time in the last month weight has fallen off an Xfinity car. The weight fell off #97-Peyton Sellers' car Friday morning during Xfinity practice. Long's car ran over it, destroying the radiator. Water gushed on to Long's front tires and he had no control, sliding up into the Turn 4 wall. After hitting, the throttle hung until he hit the inside wall. Long was uninjured and working with his crew to prepare his backup car. "I cannot apologize enough," Monsam said after delivering four shocks to Long and his crew as they took parts from the primary car to put on the backup car. "An error on our part. There's no excuse for it. All we can be right now is very grateful that Carl did not get hurt. Mistakes happen. Nobody's perfect. I think it's just a coincidence that it happened a couple of weeks ago to someone else. All I can say is I will take every step to make sure we're right with Carl and it will never happen again." Long was appreciative of Monsam's apology and help, but the incident put him behind. "It just killed us," Long said. '"It's the best race car that I've got. First time I got a chance to race in a long time. This wasn't a start and park."(NBC Sports)(5-29-2015)

Nope, it is (to quote Carl):

a yard ornament.

To add insult to injury, in the race they blew the engine on the 40 and the 13 broke a truck arm and retired with a good result in sight. Awful weekend.

Money is always tight and last weekend was expensive. I talked to Carl today who said the driver's seat and some dash parts was all he could salvage from the wrecked #13.
The original plan was for Carl to do a Full Race while Timmy Hill was going to S&P. Carl got out the backup and after suffering from soreness in qualifying, decided to swap cars with Timmy to let him race while Carl would park. BUT, Carl's engine shut off while under full power which took him out of the race. A legitimate S&P so to speak. (Carl thinks he has the electrical issue nailed).
Timmy had tire issues and then eventually broke a track bar. So the overall weekend really sucked.

so, on to Michigan where the 40 will probably be wearing a bow tie and the driver of the 13 is a TBA. We really need to find someone with some $$$ and Carl is looking to ARCA to try to find someone.

Mike, before you beat the owner of the other car with a sock full of pool balls, get him to pay Carl and Derek to get a replacement race car first, then whoever was responsible for the BS, should be beaten   :P
